Guided Tours

If you are planning to visit Chester, guided tours of the Cathedral are available to help make the most of your time here. There is so much in the building that needs to be pointed out and explained.

All Cathedral tours are led by trained guides, and a general tour covers the history, architecture and the religious significance of the building.

Tours can be tailored for special interests such as woodwork or monastic life, and can be arranged by contacting Heritage and Press in advance. In the main, they last about 75 minutes, but again, this timing can be adapted to particular needs.

The minimum tour number is 5, and there is no upper limit.

There is a charge of £2.00 per person for Guided Tours in addition to the admisison charge; therefore admission plus a Tour is £5.00 pp.

Charisma card holders wishing for a tour are asked to donate £3.00 per person.

Chester Cathedral is very busy, and to make sure your visit is properly planned, all guided tours MUST be pre booked, with a minimum of 2 weeks notice.

Bookings can be taken for tours from 9.30am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday, and 9.30am - 3.00pm on Saturdays. Tours are not available on Sundays.

All visits are subject to Cathedral Services, and on rare occasions it may be necessary to close certain parts of the building at short notice.
