Friends of Chester Cathedral
The Society of Friends of Chester Cathedral was founded by Dean Frank Selwyn Bennett in 1930. Membership is thriving and the society currently has about 850 members from all over the world.
The Friends support development across the entire cathedral and have assisted in the areas of worship and music. They have also provided funds for the maintenance of the fabric and the furniture of this most beautiful and inspiring building.
The Friends hold a very successful Plant Sale each year in early May. There are also a number of social events during the year as well as a very popular overnight trip, usually in September. Two newsletters are published annually, which keep members up to date with the latest developments and news. The Annual General Meeting is held in June and all members are invited to attend.
The benefits of Friends' membership include:
10% discount in The Refectory and The Gift Shop on production of a Friends' membership card
Newsletter twice a year
Summer outing and Autumn overnight trip
Annual plant sale
Membership subscription for the Friends is very modest:
£15.00 per annum for an individual member
£20.00 per annum for a couple or a family membership
£25.00 per annum for corporate membership (PCCs and businesses)
You too can play your part and help in the continuing life of this great English cathedral church.

The Refectory, built in the 13th century, was the dining hall for the 40 monks who belonged to the community at the time. The Refectory is open from 9:30 - 4:30 and a delicious lunch menu, fabulous cakes and free Wi-Fi!
