Chester Cathedral relies heavily on its volunteers who give generously of their time to assist in keeping the door open to welcome all of our visitors and help to meet the spiritual and financial aims of this wonderful establishment.

We are looking for energetic and dynamic volunteers, with proven customer service and administrative skills to help support our staff in all areas of the Cathedral life.

The list below indicates the areas in which we are seeking volunteers - it is not exhaustive and if you have any particular skills, which you think would be appropriate, please do get in touch.

Helping with Worship (Vergers’ Assistant)
Shop Assistant
Refectory Café Assistant
Welcoming
Admissions and Box Office Assistant
Event Front of House and Stewarding
Office Administration and Reception
Grounds Maintenance
Cleaning, Litter collecting
Painting, Decorating, General Maintenance

Particular skills we are looking for are:
Excellent communication and customer service
General IT skills, Excel, Word
Experience in Sales and Admin
Experience in PR, Marketing, Taxation and Finance

Volunteers must be able to commit to regular shifts, and when on duty are considered full representatives of the Cathedral and therefore complicit with all Cathedral policies. 
Volunteers in many roles will be subject to a CRB check, before being permitted to work.
