Friends of St Anselm

The Companions were formed in 2004 following an initiative by The Dean. The objective is to provide a facility for those who have an interest in preserving the Fabric of the Cathedral to make an annual donation which is ring fenced towards the Cathedral’s maintenance.

Those who subscribe to this task are classed as ‘Companions of St Anselm’ who came to Chester in 1092 and started the rebuilding of the Abbey. St Anselm went on to be Archbishop of Canterbury.

Subscription is currently £60 a year and an Annual Companions Service is held for all Members close to 21st April which is St Anselm’s Day.
