Jobs at the Cathedral
The post holder will be expected by the Chapter to undertake the responsibilities of Precentor of the cathedral, a position which will include:
- Provide overall leadership of the cathedral’s worship and music and assist in its development
- Playing a major role in the cathedral’s ministry and strategic leadership in collaboration with the cathedral Chapter
- To contribute to the development of the cathedral as a place of Christian mission and learning
- Provide oversight of the congregation Pastoral Care Team

The appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.

Chester Cathedral is seeking to appoint individuals to work across all areas of its visitor activities.
Candidates should have excellent communication and team working skills, an ability to work under pressure and an eye for detail.
Primarily based within The Refectory café, the role will also provide cover within the Gift Shop, at the visitor welcome station and on the floor of the cathedral. Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be physically fit and sympathetic to the cathedral’s primary purpose of Christian worship.

The Refectory, built in the 13th century, was the dining hall for the 40 monks who belonged to the community at the time. The Refectory is open from 9:30 - 4:30 and a delicious lunch menu, fabulous cakes and free Wi-Fi!
